Homework Problem 1.5 Part C Molecular Formula

Postby Kayla_Black_2B » Tue Feb 28, 2017 7:22 pm

Hi, from the ochem textbook, part c of problem 1.5 asks the type and molecular formula of a given structure that is three horizontal lines with the outer lines being shorter than the middle. I am having trouble recognizing how C3H4 is the molecular formula for it. Also, is that a single bond combined with a triple bond? Where are the Carbons and Hydrogens situated here? I would upload a photo of it, but my phone isn't cooperating. Thanks!

The longer line in the middle is actually a single bond to the left of a triple bond, with a carbon in between the two bonds and on each end. Hopefully the image below will help you out!
