Dienes? (Homework 1.21)

Postby YuniLee_1K » Sat Mar 18, 2017 9:11 pm

Do we have to know how to use diene when naming? Or can we consider a molecule with a diene structure as one carbon chain with substituents on it and name it using IUPAC? I don't remember learning this during lecture (although it's in the ochem textbook), and I'm not sure if this is something I should make sure I learn before the exam.

Learn it just to be safe, from my understanding if it's in the homework problems it's fair game for the final.
