Final 2013 Question 7

For question 7, where it asks you to "draw and give the IUPAC names for all the constitutional isomers with the molecular formula C6H14", I was wondering why 3,3-dimethylpentane , wasn't included as an answer. And then, generally, I wanted to know if any of the answers could've been cyclic compounds?

3,3-dimethylpentane isn't included as an answer because it has 7 carbons, not 6. I believe that cyclic compounds could be considered (I googled it and found this: https://www2.chemistry.msu.edu/faculty/reusch/virttxtjml/sterisom.htm; it seems to have considered a cyclic compound as a constitutional isomer in the very beginning.) but neither the textbook or the answer for the question include cyclic compounds, so maybe stay on the safe side and not include it (?).
