Sig Figs with Molarity/Molar Mass
Why do we need 4 sig figs when calculating molarity/molar mass? How does this affect the final answer, I just want to be sure that it is completely necessary because sometimes I get the same answer as the answer key but sometimes my calculations are slightly off even when I double check all my work.
Re: Sig Figs with Molarity/Molar Mass
I believe we do this in order to insure the most accurate number when calculating the molar mass but they might change depending on if you round the previous number in your calculation.

I believe the idea of significant figures is that you can only ensure that your answer is correct to the degree of your measured data. So if you go beyond the significant figures, you are technically going into a certain region of uncertainty that you can not back up with the data that you have, even if logistically it makes sense that that would be correct. Hope this helps!
