1. all nonzero numbers are significant
2. zeros between two nonzero digits are significant
3. leading zeros are not significant
4. trailing zeros to the right of the decimal are significant
5. trailing zeros in a whole number with the decimal shown are significant
6. trailing zeros in a whole number with no decimal shown are not significant
7. exact numbers have an infinite number of sig figs
8. in scientific notation, the numbers are significant and the 10^x is not

There are some important rules to remember: Non-zero digits are significant, zeros that are in between non-zero are significant, leading zeros are not significant, and theres many more, but these are the most occurring ones that are useful. Hope this helps!
