3 Sig Figs 1795.507?

Postby Ryan Fang 1D » Thu Oct 05, 2017 9:06 pm

How do you round this to 3 significant figures? 1800 only has two and 1796 has four significant figures. Thanks for the help!

I think you could round it to 1800 and then put it into scientific notation so that it would be 1.80 x 10^3

If you're asking about 3 sig figs for the 1795.507, then it would be 1.80x10^3.

You should round up to 1800, then convert it into scientific notation. For 3 sig figs, the answer should be 1.80 x 10^3

1800. only has 4 sig figs if there is a decimal. Without the decimal, there are only two sig figs. In this case, it would be 1.80 x 10^3 for 3 sig figs.
