Sig Figs

Postby amesbruin1L » Wed Oct 03, 2018 4:01 pm

Do you guys think that if we're off by one sig fig the question will be counted as wrong on the test? I know that we should be pretty precise and constant with the # of sig figs because he'll be giving us all the same periodic table but do you think we'd be given partial credit?

Yes, in my high school my teacher did not tolerate wrong sig figs. However, I don't think that no credit will be given at all. I think partial credit will be given.

I think he might dock partial credit, but I doubt he'll significantly ding us. I took Chem 20a last year (long story) and my professor made no attempt to even teach us about sig figs or worry about it lol. Just try to be consistent.

Ya he said he'd give us partial credit, and my TA said she would take some points off for errors in significant figures. My TA seemed somewhat lenient about it but still follow it correctly if you don't want to lose any points.
