E23C Sig Figs

Postby Nicole Garrido 2I » Wed Oct 03, 2018 9:33 pm

How do I know how many significant figures do I add to my answer? Is it based on the 25.2kg in the question or the molar masses?

In general, you use the given information to figure out how many sig figs you need in your answer. So yes, in this case you base it off the 25.2 kg in the question, which means your answer will also include 3 sig figs!

The number of sig figs that you should use should be based on the measured value in the question, in this case, 25.2 kg. Thus, you should have 3 sig figs for your answer.
