200. decimal sig figs
Is 200. the same as 200.0? I have never seen a decimal without any numbers following it after so I am kind of confused. Also, would it be 3 sig figs or 4?

200. would be 3 sig figs and 200.0 would be 4 sig figs so they would be different

Re: 200. decimal sig figs
200. would be 3 sig figs, but, if it were just 200 without the decimal then it would only be 1 sig fig. 200. is not the same as 200.0 because then that would be 4 sig figs since the zero does count after the decimal.

Re: 200. decimal sig figs
200.0 offers more precision than 200., so it follows that 200.0 has one more significant figure than 200.

Re: 200. decimal sig figs
Usually trailing zeros are not significant, unless they use a decimal point. So 200 will only have one sig fig, but 200. has three. Then, 200.0 has four sig figs.

Re: 200. decimal sig figs
If your answer is 200 and need to write your answer in 3 sigfigs you can write 200, but if the lowest given value from the question has 4 sigfigs you would need to answer in 4 sigfigs as well. You would write 200.0 which has 4 sigfigs.
