If the rounding after the decimal is 5, you round to the nearest even number. Ex: 3.45, 3.4.... 3.55,3.6.

Lets say I'm multiplying a value like (225.099) times a constant such as the speed of light (3.00x10^8). Do I simply use three significant figures because of the constant?

Yes, you use 3 sig figs in that situation.

Ive always been told to match the significant figures of my answer with the lowest sig figs given in the problem that is not a constant/converstion factor
