I brought my TI-84 to college, but those can't be used on tests so do I need to buy a new calculator for the test or are they provided?

You'll need to buy a scientific calculator for the midterm and final, I believe. On the syllabus it says that "only non-programmable, non-graphing calculators are allowed".

Ok but for test 1 do this week do we not need one?

Honestly not sure... Maybe email your TA? They're probably not going to provide calculators, so if they say you can't use yours that would be awful. Definitely borrow one to be safe.

I would buy a calculator to use on the test because you will need it for calculations like molar mass and dimensional analysis calculations which can be tricky and time consuming to do by hand. Calculators were not provided during my test, but it might be worth it to double check with your TA.

Based off of experience from taking the quiz today, calculators are not provided. They sell cheap ones at the bookstore!

You need to buy your own calculator.

If you're in a hurry to buy one and cannot order it or go to target to get one, they sell scientific calculators at the store in Lu Valle commons. It's the store underground by Dodd Hall.

Personally, I always brought a scientific calculator with me for an exam/test. On the Chem14A syllabus, it does say you may only bring "non-programmable and non-graphing calculators". Hope this helps!

You cannot use any form of graphing calculator on the test unfortunately so you will either need to borrow a scientific calculator or purchase one.

Amazon has some for really cheap if this helps, I'm sure you can do the calculations yourself but they will be time-consuming.

I use a TI-30X and it works wonders. Also heard a few of the Casio ones have a fraction button that would help you organize or visualize your work better!

I recommend a scientific calculator

I like my calculator because you can scroll and use the last answer to solve another problem! So if you calculate the molar mass of a compound you don't have to re type it! It's the Ti-30xs! I really recommend it!

I did some research on scientific calculators and settled on the TI-36X Pro, but I've heard the TI-30X also works great. I personally preferred the 36 because it seems to be slightly more advanced, but I don't think there's a huge difference between the two. Good luck!

My TA said that it is best to purchase a simple, 4-function calculator or a simple scientific calculator. Apparently, TI-84's are not used in most university tests.

The syllabus states that "only non-programmable, non-graphing calculators are allowed." Buy one and use it for the test.

I bought a scientific calculator for this class because the syllabus says non-programable calculator is required
