I believe the most important thing to note when you are writing down final answers is the amount of significant figures in the answer. You can write the answer in either scientific notation, whole numbers, or as decimals so long as the sig figs are correct. For example, if the answer is to be three sig figs and the answer was let's say, 5.0924... * 10^-7 meters, you can either write it as 5.09 * 10^-7 meters or 509 nanometers.

As Brian was saying, you want to make sure you're using the right number of sig figs first. Generally, if you're doing a lab and you're measuring amounts, it's better to use the whole number because it's easier to conceptualize 25ml than 2.5x10^(-2)L, but when you're answering a problem on paper, leave the numbers in powers of 10 (or use the unit that the question uses).

I agree! It is best to leave your answers in powers of 10 in order to assure your answer is most accurate and precise
