Sig Figs in Energy Level Questions

Postby Sophia 3F » Fri Oct 09, 2015 9:24 pm

How many significant figures to we use in the answer when solving energy level questions? For instance, what is the energy of the radiation emitted when an electron transitions from n=4 to n=2.

If that's the only value you're given in the problem, then I'd use 1 sig fig. I don't think there should be a problem with 1 sig fig as long as you use scientific notation.
