Partial Credit for wrong sig figs?
Hi! I was wondering if we'd be able to receive partial credit on an exam if we did all the steps of a problem correctly, but rounded significant figures wrong, or if we'd get the entire question wrong. Just wondering because I've had previous classes that have marked questions completely wrong for an incorrect number of sig figs.

I mean, they do want us to get it right but I feel like if you're off by a sig fig they cant just not give you credit. Although thats a good question. Some professors are pretty strict on units and stuff.

I also had this question because I sometimes struggle with not knowing what decimal place to round to/how many significant figures are required in an answer.

I wondered the same thing! Normally, if the entire process was correct and just the sig figs were off, I was given partial credit. But I'm not sure how Dr. Lavelle grades his exams.

Has anybody asked like their TA's or Lavelle about this? Since the midterm is coming up soon.
