Vinyl and allyl groups

Postby Jasvneet Kaur 3F » Thu Mar 10, 2016 2:43 pm

Can someone explain what vinyl and allyl groups are and how they are named? What would vinyl chloride look like?

Vinyl chloride is a common name for what we might name as "chloroethene."

The vinyl group is a functional group name for -CH=CH2.

The allyl group is a functional group name for -CH2-CH=CH3.
