So for this problem in the organic textbook on pg. 97, it asks to name the compound of a structure including alcohol.
I understand why the carbon with the functional group, alcohol, was numbered first, but why did the numbering continue towards methyl?
I thought that when there is a double bond, we are supposed to continue numbering until we pass the double bond.

In this case, we simply prioritize lower numbering. By going clockwise, the second double bond is located on the second carbon atom whereas if we went counter, the second double bond would land on the third carbon.
