Naming ethers

Postby Claire Polizu 3B » Fri Mar 11, 2016 11:23 pm

Earlier at review session Dr. Lavelle was discussing the naming of
6-(3-chloro-2-methyl)-propoxyhex-2-ene
or something along those lines...
Did we ever reach a conclusion about how one would name the molecule if there was let's say a methyl on the 4th carbon?

I think it would be 4-methyl-6-(3-chloro-2-methyl)-propoxyhex-2-ene.
