What's the difference between aldehydes and carbonyls?

An aldehyde occurs at the end of a carbon chain (meaning it always has a hydrogen attached to the carbonyl carbon), whereas a ketone occurs internally within a carbon chain (and thus has two carbons attached to the carbonyl carbon).
