Naming Rule for cyclic compounds

Postby kristinstlew » Wed Mar 09, 2016 1:06 pm

In the organic chemistry textbook, it mentions that you add "carboxylic acid" at the end of the name when you have a cycloalkane or any cyclic compound. Do we need to know these instances? There is a similar rule for aldehydes and amines.

Not covered in Chem 14B Syllabus. But good to know.
