cis-2-chloro-2-pentenoic acid: correct?

Postby Chem_Mod » Fri May 10, 2013 12:53 am

Hello Dr. Lavelle, I have two questions

1) Is writing cis-2-chloro-2-pentenoic acid the same as cis-2-chloropent-2-enoic acid?

2) When writing a line structure, starting with a C-C bond, does it matter whether you start by sloping the first line up or down? Because I have noticed that if I start sloping the opposite way from the way it is done in the org. workbook, I end up with the same line structure just flipped.

Thank You!

1) Both ways are correct.
2) No, it doesn't matter. Either way is fine.
