What does it mean to be an ambident nucleophile? Can someone give an example of how it could possibly be expressed?

It's a nucleophile thats negative charge is delocalized by resonance over two unlike or unequal atoms

You can tell whether or not a molecule is ambident by looking at the lone pairs; an ambident nucleophile has lone pairs available on multiple atoms.
i.e. Thiocyanate (SCN-) has lone pairs available on both Sulfur and Nitrogen

Are we expected to know if it is ambident simply by looking at it?
