Test #3

Postby KateCaldwell 1A » Thu May 17, 2018 9:48 pm

Does anyone know how the test covers in terms of homework? Is it all of Chapter 3 or is it up to a certain problem?

I think it will cover everything we have learned after to test #2 up to what we are currently learning. So I would assume it is all of chapter 3.

I believe there are some topics in Chapter 3 that we didn't touch upon, so I would say the test encompasses everything Professor Lavelle talked about during lecture (Lewis structures, bond strenth, etc.)

Don't worry I'm pretty sure professor Lavelle will go over what is essential for us to know.

Also, I remember Chem_Mod's answer in another topic, saying that Test 3 will not cover electron configuration since we were already tested about that on the midterm.

Does anyone know if the test for this quarter covers all of chapter 3?

Specifically what hw questions we should know how to do for this test?

Based off of what's included on his outline for chapter 3 and since we did electron configurations on the midterm, I would say it'd be useful to do 3.33 and upwards which includes covalent bond problems which have to do with building Lewis structures (he skipped the ionic bond problems), exceptions to the octet rule, ionic vs covalent bonds, and strengths and lengths of covalent bonds.

All Chapter 3 and it would benefit to do all the homework problems.

Will we have to use significant figures for this test just like midterm?

It's best to keep your sig figs consistent. So, yes: I would recommend using the correct number of sig figs (if not required, it's good practice).
