The trends are the same - they both increase upward and to the right. Electronegativity is the ability for a bonded atom to attract bonding electrons to itself while electron affinity is a measurable value (the energy change when an atom gains an electron).

The trends are basically the same, and the trend increases as you go across a period and up a group. Electronegativity is how likely the atom will attract electrons, while electron affinity is the amount of energy released when an electron is added to the atom.

The trends of electronegativity and electron affinity are the same. They increase to the right and increase when going up the periodic table. Electronegativity measures how strongly an atom of an element attracts bonding electrons and electron affinity is the amount of energy released when an electron is added to an atom.
