Ionic Equations and net ionic equation
Under fundamentals J, homework question J.5, the question asks you to complete the overall equation and then write the complete ionic equation and then write the net ionic equation. I am not sure how to write any of the three equations. I am assuming that an ionic equation represents the ions written out separately but i am just not really sure at all of what ionic equations are. If anyone could help that would be awesome!
Re: Ionic Equations and net ionic equation
You are right the complete ionic equation has the ions written out separately. The net ionic equation removes the ions that are the same on the reactants and products side.

What is the difference between an ionic equation and a net ionic equation?

Re: Ionic Equations and net ionic equation
In the net ionic equation, the ions common to both sides cancel out, so for example if there is an Li+ on both the reactants and products side, you could cancel these and the net ionic equation would not have Li+ included.
