For part b for J.5, we are given (CH3)3N + HNO3-->, why do these compounds combine to form (CH3)3NHNO3, how are we supposed to know to break it up on the right side or combine them? Also, for the ionic equation, why doesn't (CH3)3N break up? Is it because it is a weak acid and how would we know that it is weak?

acids and bases

Chem community isn't letting me post a new question so I thought id ask you. How can you tell if it’s acidic, basic, or amphoteic if we’re just given the molecule?

^^ you'd have to know that non-metals create acids, most metals form bases and i think you'll have to remember the middle section of amphoteric elements.
