Yes, I believe that you receive a point everytime you participate in the forums as either a response to a thread or posing a question. Also, I believe these are checked and marked down by your TA.

The homework is due on Friday during lecture on week 1. But for all the subsequent weeks it will be due at your discussion period. I am pretty sure for the homework, he meant that we pick any 7 questions from the list of relevant questions he listed on the syllabus.

Yes, Dr. Lavelle assigned a list of problems from each essential fundamentals section but we have the freedom of choosing any seven that we want to submit on Friday (which is only for this week. Later on, homework will be turned into our TA's during discussion).

I think that either asking or answering a question is sufficient. You must interact three times per week with Chemistry Community according to the syllabus starting week 1 if there are 10 weeks in the quarter.

As long as you participate in any of the the given discussion topics or ask your own question a minimum of 3 times a week, you will receive a maximum of 3 points for the entire week for 10 weeks. Chemistry Community counts for 30 points of your entire grade for the quarter. The syllabus for this class provides information regarding the grading system and procedures in case you are interested.

I think the cutoff is on Fridays. So basically three posts by Friday week one, three posts by Friday week two, etc.

I'm not sure what you're asking for about review. In lecture, we'll be covering new topics so if you need review I recommend going to office hours or looking at all the undergraduate peer learning times (posted as a link on the website).

They aren't due. It's to help you prepare for lecture and go over the material. It was very helpful for me because I haven't taken chem since my junior year of high school so it was good review.

The cut off for discussion posts is 11:59 pm on Sunday and I believe there is a software that automatically checks if you've posted at least 3 times that week. I got this information from a friend who asked the TA.

I don't think that they do because in the syllabus it says to have 3 posts per week which is 3 points for that week, however you can do more than three but I don't think they can roll over

I think its more of a general grading system, I was never asked by my TA for a username so I think they use your UID and the system just checks if you've posted within the deadline. Not 100% on this but so far it seems to me that its done this way.

Then you'll get to a page where you'll see a list of questions, but above the announcements there's a button that says "New Topic". Go ahead and click on that and you can post your question there!

Everytime you post something, whether it is a reply or your own post, the system gives you a point. Your TA will not check what you are posting, it does it automatically.

I believe each week Dr. Lavelle will give us a minimum number of posts on Chemistry Community. As long as we reach that number of posts (counting both questions and responses) we will receive full points for the week. For example for week 1, we have to post 5 times on chemistry community.

Yeah that's what I also read in the syllabus.I heard Professor Lavelle say during lecture either Friday or Monday that posting 5 times a week gets you the maximum 5 points for the online discussion.
