Sig Figs & Molar Mass
When figuring out sig figs do you include the sig figs of the molar mass of an atom?

I'm not sure exactly what you're supposed to do, but when I calculate molar mass I go to the amount of sig figs in other numbers given in the problem.

I'm pretty sure you're suppose to use the least amount of sig figs found in the problem to avoid any "false accuracy". If there isn't any numbers given in the problem then a good amount would be three sig figs.

I normally go by the amount of sig figs of the given numbers. For me, the sig figs given by the problem will generally be fewer than the ones in the molar mass since I go up to thousandths place for it.

I think its best to keep the molar mass from the periodic table, and round it when doing calculations according to the number given in the problem. False accuracy should not occur because the molar mass values are standardized for all the problems.
