Test 2
Is test 2 on only the the quantum world section or will there be questions on the previous section as well?

Re: Test 2
I believe Professor Lavelle said that this exam is only on the quantum world sections, so everything from after the last exam to today's lecture. You can also look at the exam outlines on Professor Lavelle's website for a comprehensive list of all of the topics and concepts we need to know for the exam!

Re: Test 2
Check out outline 2 on the class website and you'll see the list of concepts that should be known for the exam!
Re: Test 2
You'll still have to know unit analysis and other basic concepts from Test1, but the general concepts tested will be everything up until lecture Friday.

Re: Test 2
We won't be directly tested on the material from outline 1, but we are required to apply it if necessary. I hope this helped!

Re: Test 2
I believe some fundamentals may show up during calculations such as avogadro's number when converting photons to moles. Or calculating the molar mass of an element. Some examples where this is seen in the textbook are problems 1B7 part B and C. Also the second questions of 1B9 requires converting from photons to moles.

Re: Test 2
I believe this test will only cover the quantum world section, however, it may be useful to remember and apply content from the previous section.

Re: Test 2
In example 1.4 of the 6th edition of the textbook it has you calculate the energy of a single photon and then the energy per mole of photons, so i think its important that you remember things like avogadro's number from test 1 because they're fundamentals and will probably show up again on other tests. the example is on page 12 if you want to take a look at how they did it! :)

Re: Test 2
these tests (aka not the midterm nor final) are NOT cummulative (to the best of my knowledge)

The test will only cover what we've learned in the quantum world up until Friday's lecture

Re: Test 2
I believe that each concept will be from the quantum world sections, but you still need to know the basics of from the first test that was given to us.

Test 2 will cover Quantum world but only up to Friday's lecture inclusive. Any material from Week 4 won't be on this test.

Test 2 will just cover everything from the beginning of The Quantum World to the end of Friday's (October 19) lecture.
