Schrodinger's Wave Function

Postby Duby3L » Sat Oct 20, 2018 5:43 pm

Are we expected to apply Schrodinger's wave function equation for the test? If so, under what scenarios?

Just know what the wave function is for, and the generals about it! No calculations (that is very difficult math :)

No, Professor Lavelle explained in class that applying Schrodinger's wave function equation involves pretty advanced, complicated math. I think we just need to understand the wave function conceptually.

What does Schrodinger's Wave Function tell you conceptually? Does it mathematically tell you how a wave function persists over time?

You need to understand the conceptual implications of the equation, specifically regarding wave functions and orbitals. You don't need to know calculations.

what concept do we need to take away from Schrodinger's Wave Function?

No you do not need to calculations of the equation as it is advanced math, but know the conceptual implications of the equation regarding orbitals and wave functions

Just know the concepts behind the equation, but no calculation will be on the test. we are not expected to know how to do that.

What does the 'H' stand for in this equation?

Will we have to memorize it or will it be given on the front sheet of the exam?
