### Electromagnetic Spectrum

For test 2 specifically, is it relevant to memorize the electromagnetic spectrum?
As in, the nm boundaries for the wavelengths of light

No I believe it is not necessary. Most likely if you need it to solve a problem on your test the TA will have provided it to you on your formula/equation sheet.

It will most likely be given, but it can be helpful to familiarize yourself with the spectrum to check if your answers are reasonable.

You do not need to fully memorize the electromagnetic spectrum but it may be helpful to know that visible red light is about 700nm and visible violet light is about 400nm because that was covered in lecture.

My TA said it would be good to know the rough wavelength range. Visible light wavelength range from 400nm (violet) to 700nm (red) is pretty important. Then remember the wavelength from small to large: x-ray and gamma-ray < UV < visible < IR < microwave/radiowaves. Remember the range for UV (350nm) and IR (1000nm). Table1.1 in textbook is a really good and important reference!

You do not need to fully memorize the spectrum but it will definitely be helpful to be familiar with it for the course.
