Final Grade

Will the class be curved at the end of the quarter or is it on point system?

I would check the syllabus, but I don't think the class is curved.

I believe Dr. Lavelle looks at the class average and sets a grading scheme based upon how well everyone did. Based off of the grading scheme on Bruin Walk, a majority of people received A's.

From the syllabus: "Each test and exam has a total score but is not assigned a grade. Only at the end of the class when the class average score (out of 500 points) is known are final grades assigned. This class does not use a curve. Group learning (Chemistry Community, Study Groups, Peer Learning, etc.) is encouraged. 50% or higher is required to pass with a C- or higher."

I don’t believe it’s a curve. However, if you get 50% in the class, you’ll get a C-.
