delta positive delta negative
How do you know which end of a molecule is delta positive or delta negative?

First draw the direction of the dipole. The dipole should point towards the more electronegative atom in a molecule. therefore the end that the dipole points at is delta negative, and the end where the dipole starts at is delta positive. It may be confusing but try drawing it out, it'll help.

Yes, the electron acceptor tends to be delta negative. This also means that the more electronegative element tends to be delta negative because it attracts electrons more.

The more elctronegative atom accepts electrons so it is more negatively charged, hence delta negative. The atom that donates the elctrons becomes positively charged, or delta positive.

Usually the anions found on the right side of the periodic table have a delta negative sign - this is because they are usually an electron acceptor. The cations found on the left side of the periodic table have delta positive sign - this is because they are usually electron donors.

Draw everything out first, then find the most electronegative atom (remember trends on the periodic table). This atom becomes delta negative, as it is an acceptor, and the other atom is delta positive.

Delta negative means the atom accepts electrons and delta positive means the atoms donates electrons.

Delta positives usually give electrons. Delta positives are typically central atoms such as in AlCl3. Al has 3 electrons to give so it bonds with 3 Cl atoms. If you visualize the electron pull it goes towards the delta negative which in this case are the Cl atoms. Electron pull goes towards the delta negative from the delta positive. Also in dipole moments you want to assure delta positives attract delta negative since a positive and positive or vice versa will repel against one another.

Delta negative is the one that accepts electrons, while Delta positive is the one that gives electrons

The more electronegative atom is the delta negative and the less electronegative atom is delta positive. The dipole moment is from the positive to the negative.

The atoms with higher electronegativity are delta negative and the atoms with lower electronegativity are delta positive. If the electronegativity does not cancel out, then the molecule will be polar.

The electron acceptor is usually the more electronegative and tends to be delta negative.

The acceptor tends to be delt negative while the donor is usually delta positive.
