Linear Shape of O2
I thought that linear shaped molecules can’t have dipole moments. How is O2 an exception to this?

Re: Linear Shape of O2
O2 does not have dipole moments because there is no difference in electronegativity between the 2 O atoms. That's why O2 is nonpolar.

Because the oxygen molecule has 2 oxygen molecules that are stuck together so they are non polar. They can’t have a dipole moment because they have the same electronegativity.
