Re: Test 3
Professor Lavelle hasn't posted the topics yet, but I'm guessing chemical bonds and molecular shape and structure.

Re: Test 3
I'm guessing that it would include material from Outlines 3 and 4, so chemical bonds and shape/structure.

Re: Test 3
I believe test 3 would be the parts of outline 3 that weren't covered on the midterm and all of outline 4.

Re: Test 3
Dr. Lavelle should tell us in class soon but so far it's going to be everything after the midterm like the lewis structures, bond energy, types of bonds and such

Re: Test 3
He has not told us what will be on the test yet but I'm guessing it's going to be on everything we learned after the midterm

Re: Test 3
Dr. Lavelle should post the topics of test 3 soon before the test, but like everyone said it will most likely be topics completed after the midterm

Re: Test 3
Test 3 will likely contain everything we've covered so far after the midterm, which includes intermolecular bonding and molecular structure.

Re: Test 3
Test 3 Will most likely cover everything we've learned from after the midterm through week 8, as the test is during week 9.

Re: Test 3
Probably not as much, but we will still need to know Lewis structures and build on what we've already learned.
Re: Test 3
I don't think we'll be directly tested on Lewis Structures, however, we would still need to know how to draw them in order to determine the shape.

Re: Test 3
You have to know the lewis structure to do other problems, so I think that it would be incorporated into the test.

Re: Test 3
The website says that test 3 will cover "End of Bonding from 3.12 (6 Ed.) and from 2D (7 Ed.); and all of Molecular Shape and Structure (see Syllabus and Outlines for details)"

Re: Test 3
My TA Anton listed these topics for Test 3: Bonding (trends), Shape (lewis structure), Molecular Shape, Polarity, and Hybridization.

Re: Test 3
According to the announcements on the class website, test 3 will cover the end of Bonding from 3.12 (6 Ed.) and from 2D (7 Ed.); and all of Molecular Shape and Structure.
Re: Test 3
It should cover everything from after the midterm until now, so from Lewis Structures to Hybridization.
Re: Test 3
He recently posted this on his website. Test 3 covers "End of Bonding from 3.12 (6 Ed.) and from 2D (7 Ed.); and all of Molecular Shape and Structure (see Syllabus and Outlines for details)."
