D-orbital

Postby Bianca Barcelo 4I » Mon Nov 19, 2018 6:35 pm

What is the correct notation when including a d orbital into hybridization? In lecture, for example, I believe d^2sp^3 was used as an example. Can we still put the d orbital after sp?

Yes Dr. Lavelle said in class that it was fine if you put d before or after the sp

Yes, Lavelle says he prefers to put the d-orbital after the s-orbital but either is correct notation!

Either works although Lavelle says that he prefers to put the d in front of the sp
