Strong Acids

Postby Dustin Shin 2I » Fri Dec 07, 2018 3:44 am

In discussion today, we went over the 6 strong acids compared to the weak acids. For problems perhaps in the final exam, can we just assume that we will always be trying to find the pH of strong acids? Sorry if this doesn't really make sense.

I think we are expected to know the difference between strong and weak acids, but yes most of the calculations will be with strong acids. I hope this answered your question!

We should know the concept and theory differentiating strong and weak acids. As for the calculations, I feel as if it would primarily be strong acids but there is always the possibility he could throw a weak acid in there. Can't say for sure. Hope this helped, good luck studying!

Hi, I think we should know the difference between both the acids, the calculations will probably just be strong acids however we should be prepared to calculate weak acids just in case.

Most equations deal with strong acids so its safer to assume it is strong. However, we need to know the differences between strong and weak acids

There are no weak acid/base calculations in 14A. Strong acid/base calculations will be tested only.
