Ionization Energy and Electron Affinity Trend Exceptions

Postby Jasmine Reddy DIS 1E » Sun Dec 02, 2018 3:28 pm

What are the relative ionization energies and electron affinities of C, N, O, and F? Why?

Are there any other ionization energy or electron affinity trend exceptions?

Typically ionization energy decreases as you go down the and increases as you go right. This is true for electron affinity.

Also wanted to stated that the trend also applies to electronegativity as well.
Decreases down a column and increases acreage the row.
