Why are the instantaneous dipoles in rod-shaped molecules stronger than those in spherical molecules?

More surface area of the molecule is exposed.
More of the molecule can participate in London dispersion forces.
Thus, the bonds are stronger.

Rod shaped molecules have a higher surface area.Because there is higher surface area, there is a higher incidence of instantaneous dipoles, which occur randomly but more frequently in this case.

The surface area is larger for the rod shaped molecules so there will be more surface area for the two to interact upon, resulting in tighter and stronger bonds.

The greater the surface area off the molecule, the stronger the attraction/bond will be.
