Pressure units

For units of partial pressure, should we use bars or atmospheres? What is the difference between the two?

You would commonly use torr or atmosphere as the units for partial pressure. I would stick with atmospheres to be safe. A bar is atmospheric pressure at sea level and equals 100 kilopascals.

At the end of lecture, Professor Lavelle briefly stated that you should use atmosphere as the unit for partial pressure.

I think we are fine labeling the units for Kp as either bars or atmosphere. Whereas, Kc is identified in molar/moles.

I believe for Kp we use bars but for solving for anything using the equation Pv=nRT we use atmospheres. Hope this helps :)
