Why does a change in concentration of reactants or products not affect the equilibrium constant at a certain temperature?

Because the equilibrium constant is fixed, and is defined by the concentration of products over the concentration of reactants, the ratio of product concentrations to reactant concentrations is constant. This means that increasing/decreasing the concentration of a certain reactant/product would simply change the position of the equilibrium, not the equilibrium constant, by altering the concentrations of the other reactants and products until a new balance is formed.

if you change the concentrations of the reactants or products, the reaction will balance itself back to equilibrium, and the final concentrations of the reactants and products will yield the equilibrium constants if put into the equation.
