Percentage Ionization

Postby Tamera Scott 1G » Wed Jan 16, 2019 6:35 pm

Is percentage ionization the same as percentage deprotonation and protonation, as mentioned in the textbook?

Percentage deprotonation is the percentage of acid molecules deprotonated.
Percentage protonation is different, since it's the percentage of base molecules protonated.

Depending on whether you are talking about an acid or base, yes, similar to the difference between pH and pOH

So percentage ionization of an acid is the same as percentage deprotonization?
