Naming of Hydrocarbons on the Final

Will we need to know the common names of hydrocarbons on the final or is memorizing the IUPAC naming strategies adequate.

I'm pretty sure Professor Lavelle said that both the common names and IUPAC naming are acceptable. So knowing either one should work.

Neil is correct. Focus on the IUPAC system since it will be consistent and always correct. Common names are sometimes quite arbitrary.
