Concentrations Effect on K

Postby Shuyi Yu 1B » Sat Jan 19, 2019 9:12 pm

If the concentration of each reactant and product increased by the same amount, would K also increase or would it stay the same since it is a ratio?

K does not change when concentration changes, so the ratio remains the same regardless of change in product or reactant concentration occurs.

K doesn't change when concentrations change. However, a change of temperature can change an equilibrium constant.

K only changes when the ratio of products and reactants change, but when concentrations change, the ratio stays the same. Therefore, K stays the same.

What if there are two products from one reactant? Wouldn't the products then be doubled if you added .100 mol of substance of each?

If both increased by the same amount, K would still remain the same.

K will not change if the concentrations of both the reactants and the products change by the same amount. This is the case because their ratio would remain the same.

Like explained in lecture, change in concentration as well as change in pressure - k does not change.

Out of the various stresses, only temperature changes Kc
