In reactions with solids and liquids, why is P$\Delta$V insignificant?

### Re: Solids and Liquids

Because solids and liquids can be called 'incompressible'. It means that their volume varies very little or not at all with change in pressure.

Solids and liquids don't count because their pressure and volume aren't affected

### Re: Solids and Liquids

It is because you cannot compress a solid or liquid like you can to a gas. So therefore, the pressure and change in volume are negated since it won't make a difference.

when a solid becomes a liquid or vice versa the volume isn't really changed. When a solid or liquid becomes a gas then there is a change in volume because the gas wants to expand it has different characteristics compared to a solid or liquid.

### Re: Solids and Liquids

Solids and liquids have a constant volume. Also, pressure is really only used to describe gasses.
