Chem 14B Midterm

Postby Katie Frei 1L » Wed Feb 06, 2019 10:36 am

In the announcement made about what was going to be covered on the midterm for chem 14B, it said everything we have covered until the end of entropy. Does this mean for thermodynamics (2nd and 3rd laws), sections 4F-4I of the 7th edition of the textbook (Basically, only excluding section 4J in outline 4: Thermodynamics)? Thank you!

You are correct. Following the announcement we should only be responsible for anything from day 1 up until today, 2/6/19, which covered entropy. I am almost certain that Dr. Lavelle will go over some problems on Friday, so anything NEW we learn after entropy will most likely be reserved for Test 2. I noticed 4J covers Gibbs Free energy, which, while it is related to thermodynamics and entropy, it's not specifically mentioned in the announcement so I assume we do not really need to know it.

However, I'll let the admin confirm whether or not this is 100% correct.

Gibbs free energy is not going to be on the midterm.

Dr. Lavelle stated on Friday that the Midterm will only cover up to the end of Entropy, so knowing Gibbs Free Energy will not be necessary for our midterm.
