Derivations of formulas

Postby JulieAljamal1E » Sun Feb 10, 2019 5:03 pm

Are we going to need to know how to derive certain formulas on the midterm? In class Dr. Lavelle seemed to spend some time deriving them out but only the final equation helps solve the question?

I don't think you have to know the steps of the derivation since they involve calculus and calc was not a pre-req for the course but I think if you can't derive then memorize s=nRln(v2/v1) and s=nRln(p1/p2) since those are not given on the equation sheet since they are derivations of another equation, i think theres a few other ones we use that arent put on the sheet but i cant remember at the moment. Derivations can also take some time so depending on what works best for you either just memorize the equations not given on the formula sheet or know how to derive them.
