Entropy is higher for molecules that are in a more mobile phase (gas>liquid>solid) due to how far apart and mobile particles are relative to each other (also because q or heat is higher in that order of phases). Entropy is also higher for large, complicated molecules because there are more microstates in a 3-D space that the molecule can occupy; to clarify further, there are more ways that the atoms within that molecule can contort themselves into multiple shapes. Entropy is, in simple terms, how many ways an object can position itself. Therefore, the higher the entropy is based on how complicated the molecule is. The more complicated, the more shapes it can form, and therefore the more entropy. This then means that entropy goes in the order gas>liquid>solid, because a gas molecule is less compact and can occupy more position in space than a solid or liquid.
