Entropy Equations

Postby Jessica Helfond 2F » Mon Feb 11, 2019 8:03 pm

In what circumstances will we use equations with the Boltzmann equation versus nrtln(v2/v1) or nrtln(t2/t1)?

I believe boltzmann equation will be used when dealing with microstates. The other equation is used when calculating change in entropy within a volume change in the system: delta S = n R ln(v2 / v1)

Also generally when you use the boltzmann equation it will ask you for either residual or positional entropy rather than just entropy.
