Why do we use the Van't Hoff equation? What does it tell us in terms of K and temperature?

Re: Concept behind Van't Hoff Equation
We use the Van't Hoff to calculate K at different temperatures. This is important because K is dependent on temperature, so at different temperatures K has a different value.

In what situations would we need to calculate different temperatures?

Re: Concept behind Van't Hoff Equation
The Van't Hoff Equation relates temperature change and K so you're able to calculate it if T of the system is changed. This temperature change can affect the equilibrium of the system so this can be used to examine that.

Re: Concept behind Van't Hoff Equation
It helps to relate the effect of temperature on the equilibrium constant of a reaction. Back when we were looking at Le Chatelier's principle, we noticed that only a change in temperature changed our equilibrium constant as a whole, and this equation can be used to see how a change in temperature directly affects that value.

Re: Concept behind Van't Hoff Equation
This equation helps us determine how a system behaves at equilibrium at a new temperature. The value of K itself changes, so you can really see if products or reactants are favored more or less than they were before!
