A reversible reaction could be something like N2O4 ↔ 2NO2, while an irreversible reaction could be a combustion reaction.

Lavelle said that reversible reactions are pretty much entirely theoretical, since it's pretty much not possible for all heat to be converted to work with nothing being lost to the surroundings. Most reactions are irreversible, especially biological reactions.

Adding onto the above responses, just remember that reversible does maximum work and is always at equilibrium. In this class, reversible will be pretty much synonymous to isothermal.

In irreversible reactions, the reactants convert to products and the products cannot convert back to the reactants. An example of an irreversible reaction is combustion. In reversible reactions, the forward and reverse reactions occur simultaneously.
